Little Taste at the Dahlia - From Barrel to Bottle
Becky and I went to the Little Taste at the Dahlia last night. We tasted five different wines (in various states of completion) from Tamarack Cellars and had some sweet and savory snacks (read the menu below-if you can) that complemented the wines. We had a barrel tasting of 2005 Chardonnay and compared that to a bottled 2004 Chardonnay. Then we had a barrel tasting of 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon and compared that with a bottled 2003 Cab. For the finale, we sampled a very tasty merlot. (Sorry, but I don't remember the vintage on that one.) You can tell that the winemaker (Ron Coleman) from Tamarack Cellars loves what he does. He loves the fruit. He says that's what it's all about-and that "the farmers are the heroes."

Hooray for farmers! And hooray to the Dahlia Lounge for continuing to host these Little Tastes. They are always fun, delicious and educational. (Three of my favorite things!)
